"Le Djihad islamique a annoncé un accord de cessez-le-feu dans la bande de Gaza, tôt vendredi matin. De sources palestiniennes, l'accord a été négocié par l'Egypte et l'ONU. La radio israélienne indique que le cessez-le feu a déjà commencé. Nafaz Azam, l'un des leaders de l'organisation de l'enclave palestinienne, a annoncé l'inattendue déclaration. Plus tôt, jeudi, le groupe terroriste avait juré d'étendre la gamme de ses roquettes, envoyant et d'envoyer des projectiles plus loin dans le territoire israélien. Selon le Djihad islamique, affilié aux Frères musulmans, les tirs de roquettes sont susceptibles de tripler le nombre de victimes israéliennes.
Des sources palestiniennes ont signalé quelques heures plus tard que l'Aviation israélienne avait tué deux terroristes du Djihad islamique dans la bande de Gaza. Un missile a frappé la moto des deux Palestiniens qui se trouvaient dans le nord de l'étroite bande côtière. Une source médicale précise que l'une des victime a été identifiée comme étant Khaled al-Salim Arabid. L'armée israélienne n'a émis aucun commentaire sur la trêve."

Côté israélien, le ministre chargé des services de renseignement, Dan Méridor, a affirmé à la radio publique qu'Israël était prêt à respecter une trêve tacite : "Nous ne romprons pas l'accalmie si l'autre partie (palestinienne) en fait autant. Mais nous n'attendrons pas que l'on nous tire dessus et que des gens meurent pour agir", a-t-il souligné. [...]"

"L’Administration de Coordination et de Liaison a sauvé une femme Palestinienne et son bébé lorsqu’une salve de roquettes tirée par des terroristes depuis la bande de Gaza a frappé le point de passage terrestre d’Erez. Les roquettes ont endommagé les infrastructures du point d’Erez et ont également provoqué une coupure d’électricité générale sur l’ensemble du site. En raison de la panne d’électricité, les portes mécaniques ont cessé de fonctionner. Des femmes palestiniennes qui retournaient dans la bande de Gaza par le biais de ce point de passage après avoir reçu un traitement médical en Israël se sont ainsi retrouvées prises au piège.
Deux femmes ont réussi à passer de l’autre côté sans danger, tandis qu’une troisième femme et sa petite fille ont été prises au piège entre deux portes désactivées, au moment où des roquettes continuaient de s’abattre à cet endroit. Le Commandant du point de passage terrestre d’Erez et un autre commandant responsable de la sécurité sont immédiatement venus en aide à la femme et sa fille. Toutes les femmes palestiniennes ont été ramenées vers un endroit à l’abris des roquettes. Un repas leur a ensuite été servi pour marquer la fin du jeûne du Ramadan qu’elles avaient observé toute la journée.
En dépit des tirs de roquettes depuis la bande de Gaza, le point de passage frontalier d’Erez a continué de fonctionner ces derniers jours, afin de permettre le passage de Palestiniens qui avaient besoin de recevoir un traitement médical en Israël et des membres des organisations internationales."

"Since last Thursday there has been a change in the IDF’s modus operandi in the Gaza Strip. The political leadership granted the army and Shin Bet much more leeway and much more flexibility with regard to undertaking pinpoint eliminations of wanted terrorists: Whether they are ticking time bombs or hostile parties planning to perpetrate terror attacks at a later point.
Hamas sought a ceasefire, albeit nothing was put down in writing, and Israel rushed to establish the substance of this truce. One of its principles, as of today, is that if they fire rockets we will return to pinpoint eliminations according to a master list, along the same lines of the fugitive lists in the days of the Second Intifada.
Since Operation Cast Lead Israel has refrained from executing pinpoint eliminations against terror group leaders. Israel has also refrained from eliminations of terrorists in the field involved in planning attacks. At times we saw reports about a terror cell that left the Gaza Strip and was struck even before it crossed the border into Sinai, but for the most part pinpoint eliminations were reserved for ticking time bombs: that is, rocket launching cells eliminated before or after firing into Israel.
In other words, most terrorists could wander around the Gaza Strip with relative safety. Even when the infrastructure of the Popular Resistance Committees came together for executing the attack near Eilat – via Sinai – there was an opportunity to strike it. Some defense officials proposed doing just that. Yet senior officials decided not to execute such surgical strike due to political and operational reasons.
When referring to the elimination of terror infrastructure the objective is not just to strike the men who directly execute the attack. Striking the planners and the men responsible for logistics can also affect execution of an attack. For example, there were cases where terror cells embarked on an attack, their infrastructure in the Gaza Strip was exposed and hit, and the cells returned without undertaking the planned attack.
The pinpoint elimination was and remains the most effective weapon in coping with terrorism and striking fear in its perpetrators. The IDF learned this in the Second Intifada, when it curbed the spread of terror networks by constantly cutting back the lists of wanted terrorists. In contrast to the Gaza Strip, in the West Bank it was also possible to make arrests. But in Gaza, cutting back the list can only be done by physically neutralizing the targets.
The defense minister hinted at the change in policy regarding surgical strikes at the beginning of the week in Ashkelon, when he mentioned cutting off terrorists’ heads. However, the pinpoint elimination is also a weapon that invites a quick reaction. Hamas and Islamic Jihad can accept a strike against the tunnels, store rooms or buildings. But a strike on their command structure, for example, forces them to react in an effort to deter Israel from continuing.
Hence, should Israel persist in the policy of eliminations now – which has since Thursday cut down five terrorists from the Popular Resistance Committees, five terrorists from Islamic Jihad and two Hamas terrorists – we can assume that the ceasefire declared by terrorist organizations will not last very long, and we shall find ourselves very quickly in the midst of a military operation."

"Egyptian sources in El Arish report that in the coming days we will witness a huge Egyptian military campaign for the destruction of all smuggling tunnels in the border area with Gaza. Major-General Mohamed Farid Khamis, Hejazi, commander of the Second Field Army, said during a meeting with sheikhs and tribal leaders in northern Sinai that the Egyptian armed forces have taken an irreversible decision to destroy all tunnels. The move aims to prevent the infiltration of extremist groups through the tunnels to Sinai to carry out terrorist operations."
Egypt has been very concerned over Gaza groups' influence on fomenting terror in the Sinai. I have my doubts over what percentage of tunnels they will actually find and shut down, but even destroying 50% would have an impact. The amount of goods and people that can cross through the official Rafah crossing is still quite small. Inevitably, this will affect the amount of goods available in Gaza, especially construction materials.
How will the Egyptian government spin this action in a way that doesn't make them look like Zionist stooges? Will they demonize the Gaza terror groups and describe them as enemies of Egypt? Will Hamas react angrily and start insulting the "new" Egypt? Which side will Egyptian media support? Things might get very interesting."

Anouar Zboun (45 ans) membre du Conseil législatif palestinien qui fait office de Parlement a été arrêté à son domicile, dans la ville de Bethléem, dans le sud de la Cisjordanie. Le 21 août l'armée israélienne a arrêté des dizaines de membres du Hamas dans le sud de la Cisjordanie après des tirs de roquettes sur Israël à partir de la bande de Gaza, sous contrôle du Hamas. Parmi les cadres interpellés figurait un député du Hamas, Mohammed Motlaq Abou J'heisha. Selon un communiqué du Hamas l'arrestataion d'Anouar Zboun porte à 19 le nombre de députés affiliés au mouvement détenus par Israël."

In a cable termed "sensitive" but not "classified," Netanyahu is described as occupying the center-right of the Israeli political scene. But he prefers pragmatism over ideology in most matters. "On the peace process he is keeping all options open regarding a two-state solution, and may be willing to advance the process significantly as long as he is not forced to publicly acknowledge the extent of such progress," the cable said.
The American diplomats expected Netanyahu "to rely heavily on his improved skills at political wheeling-dealing to keep the right flank on board while quietly (but perhaps slowly) cooperating on the peace process agenda, which he understands is critical to Israel's relations with the U.S." The authors quoted from Netanyahu's final speech in the Knesset while Ehud Olmert was still prime minister, in which he declared his willingness to make "generous concessions" for peace with the Palestinians. "La Libye a toujours eu une attitude ambiguë vis-à-vis d’Israël, en soufflant le chaud et le froid dans ses relations. Le régime de Kadhafi et les rebelles qui viennent de prendre le pouvoir à Tripoli ont tous deux approché le gouvernement israélien pour obtenir un appui politique et matériel. Le paradoxe tient au fait que, durant ses quatre décennies au pouvoir, le colonel Kadhafi s’était montré l’un des plus virulents critiques de l’État juif. Le jeune colonel avait d’ailleurs reçu une leçon en public du vieux président tunisien Bourguiba , qui lui avait déjà conseillé de voir du côté d’Israël.
Mais Israël avait été échaudé par son expérience précédente en Irak, où les opposants irakiens avaient obtenu une aide israélienne avec l’espoir d’établir des relations diplomatiques à la chute de Saddam Hussein. Mais l’avènement du nouveau régime irakien s’était accompagné d’un alignement classique sur les thèses de la Ligue arabe. Israël était encore mis au ban des nations. Israël a donc refusé de prendre une position officielle pour l’une ou l’autre des parties, car elle exigeait au préalable sa reconnaissance officielle. Les promesses, expérience oblige, n’étaient pas souvent tenues. Des délégations s’étaient rendues secrètement à Jérusalem, mais aucun accord n’avait été entériné. [...]
Le gouvernement israélien n’a cependant jamais délaissé ses contacts avec le Conseil national de transition libyen (CNT), dont certains membres ont été reçus à Jérusalem pour des discussions qui auraient débouché sur des accords concrets. Israël avait déclaré soutenir les rebelles avec l’espoir qu’ils «parviendront à établir en Libye un gouvernement efficace et démocratique».
L’optimisme règne actuellement face au changement de régime prévu en Libye. Les autorités israéliennes ont cependant manifesté leur inquiétude de voir des organisations terroristes s’emparer d’une partie de l’arsenal libyen. Les services de renseignements israéliens ont révélé des transports importants d’armement depuis le sud de la Libye vers la bande de Gaza, en passant par le Sinaï, comprenant en particulier des mortiers et des missiles. Le gouvernement de Netanyahou a cependant investi beaucoup, matériellement et politiquement, pour obtenir sa reconnaissance par la Libye. D’une part parce qu’il s’agit d’un pays arabe et d’autre part parce qu’il consolidera les relations déjà établies avec l’Egypte. D’ailleurs, le président de l’Etat, Shimon Pérès, avait enfoncé le clou en saluant la rébellion libyenne contre le régime du colonel Mouammar Kadhafi, la qualifiant de «combat pour la liberté. La rébellion est un soulèvement populaire pour la liberté du peuple libyen»."

"Pascal Boniface vient de publier un livre intitulé « Les intellectuels faussaires ». Des « experts en mensonges », tels Bernard-Henri Lévy, Caroline Fourest, Alexandre Adler, François Heisbourg ou encore Philippe Val, courtisés par tant de médias et dont le rappel de quelques-unes de leurs énormités, dites ou écrites, les cataloguent, selon le directeur de l’Iris, comme « faussaires ». Une liste qui laisse cependant sur la faim puisque n’y trouvant pas l’auteur lui-même. Car au nombre d’énormités tenues par celui-ci sur LE sujet proche-oriental, qui compte considérablement pour lui car central paraît-il, nul doute qu’il n’est pas loin de tenir la palme.
- On se souvient de sa « Lettre à un ami Israélien » [en 2001] qui établissait déjà le tort de soutenir l’action du Premier Ministre israélien élu démocratiquement par près de 60 % des électeurs en février 2001, et qui alertait la communauté juive française des suites prévisibles en France, dont elle porterait la responsabilité par son soutien inconditionnel à Ariel Sharon. Eli Barnavi, alors ambassadeur d’Israël en poste à Paris et homme de gauche lui aussi, lui signifia diplomatiquement - à travers le même journal à savoir Le Monde - toute sa consternation de sa lecture du conflit et de son procès quant au « délit de Pro-Sharonisme ».
- Inutile de rappeler ici que pour cet ‘‘expert’’, Tel-Aviv est la capitale de l’état juif - une nation établie qui se voit ainsi dépossédée par autorité de sa possibilité de choisir sa capitale.
- Signalons, pour l’ironie, l’interview à un journal suisse de ce grand stratège qui donna son accord à Bush sur les pays composant l’axe du mal. A une exception près, car il y manquait un pays du proche orient : Israël.
- Rappelons encore que dans un billet paru dans La Croix en octobre 2010, bien longtemps après la parution de son livre intitulé « Est-il permis de critiquer Israël » paru, lui, en 2003, il assure que : « Brandir l'accusation d'antisémitisme contre ceux qui critiquent le gouvernement israélien est une méthode ancienne et répandue (…) Mais, disent certains, l'antisémitisme se réfugie désormais derrière la critique d'Israël. Il y a une assimilation faite entre antisémitisme, antisionisme et critique de la politique du gouvernement israélien. Ce sont pourtant des notions tout à fait différentes. La confusion qui est opérée à leur égard n'est pas innocente, elle vise à protéger le gouvernement israélien ». A croire que son livre et ses diverses et abondantes explications depuis n’ont guère convaincu les honnêtes gens puisqu’obligé de se répéter !
On pourrait allonger la liste des énormités dites et/ou écrites par celui qui se prétend ‘‘expert’’ et ose juger d’autres qui n’ont, c’est vrai, rien à lui envier. Mais un seul petit rappel de sa vision futur du conflit publié dans Le Figaro le 25 décembre 2004 et à travers un billet intitulé « La bonne initiative de Tony Blair » démontrera ses ‘‘capacités’’ médiocres à lire correctement la réalité du terrain :
« La constitution d'un gouvernement d'union nationale israélien pour mettre en place le plan défini par Ariel Sharon de retrait de Gaza est un facteur positif. Il doit être soutenu, car il représente l'espoir d'une amélioration de la situation. Un retrait, fût-il unilatéral, fût-il partiel, est préférable au statu quo. Le gouvernement israélien doit continuer sur cette voie. Il ne doit plus faire dépendre la reprise des négociations de l'arrêt total des violences, sauf à donner un droit de veto sur la paix aux groupes palestiniens qui y sont opposés. Il faut surtout que le retrait de Gaza soit un premier pas, suivi rapidement par d'autres, pour appliquer entièrement la «feuille de route» et non pas un moyen d'éviter sa mise en œuvre en créant pour «solde de tout compte» un État palestinien croupion. Le retrait de Gaza doit être suivi de celui de la Cisjordanie. Des rectifications frontalières peuvent avoir lieu à la condition qu'elles soient compensées et acceptées réciproquement. »
Une ‘‘analyse’’ qui fut suivi par l’élection ‘‘démocratique’’ du Hamas, du coup d’état de celui-ci sur la bande de Gaza, de milliers de missiles tirés sur le territoire israélien prenant ainsi en otage sa population, et de l’opération « Plomb durci » qui occasionna le rapport Goldstone, lequel ridiculisa un peu plus l’Onu. Le tout démontrant que le retrait de la bande de Gaza ne fut pas « l'espoir d'une amélioration de la situation » comme il l’affirma alors.
Ariel Sharon et les Israéliens, avec lui, ont compris depuis qu’aucun geste israélien n’arrêtera le conflit. Qui peut réellement affirmer aujourd’hui que Pascal Boniface est dans le même état d’esprit ? Qui peut assurer qu’il a enfin compris que ce n’est pas la «colonisation» qui pose problème mais uniquement l’existence d’un état juif ? Personne ! Et lui encore moins ! [...] A ce niveau d’entêtement, peut-on croire encore que sa ‘’critique’’ continue et systématique d’Israël n’est rien d’autre que critique ? Bien sûr que non ! Peut-on, alors, accepter que son nom ne soit pas dans la liste des « intellectuels faussaires » ? Seuls les naïfs répondront oui."
